Eltham Palace and Gardens

Step right into a time capsule at Eltham Palace, the love child of a medieval castle, a Tudor palace and a swanky 1930s millionaire’s mansion. This historical gem was once a royal playground from the 14th to 16th century, where monarchs, including a young King Henry VIII, reveled in the lush surrounding parks. Fast-forward to the 1930s, and the palace received a facelift of epic proportions. Eccentric millionaires Stephen and Virginia Courtauld transformed this regal residence into an Art Deco wonderland, creating an irresistible fusion of history and modernity. The gardens mirror this eclectic mix, flaunting a quirky blend of old and new. Visitors can marvel at the stunning herbaceous borders, saunter through the meticulously arranged rose gardens, and find solace in the enchanting Rock Garden, complete with tranquil pools and cascades that tumble down to the moat.
