  Pas grand chose à voir sur le château La vu est magnifique, mais il faut venir pour les visites de 12 h Avant il y a régulièrement du brouillard

  Plutôt cher pour ce que c'est, et clairement c'est très long pour parcourir les quelques kms qui séparent le centre de Sintra du Palais de Pena, presque une heure entre le moment où nous sommes arrivés au l arrêt de bus et l'arrivée au Palais de Pena. Nous sommes arrivés trop tard pour visiter le palais (l'heure du billet est l'heure maxi). Dommage.

  The palace is stunning and the full tour is highly recommended as you learn so many more details that would otherwise be overlooked. My rating is based more on the all the unknown challenges accessing the castle. If you are in excellent health and fitness, you could walk from the town or the train station. It is several kilometers, on cobblestone, in very close proximity to motorcars and buses and all up hill. Personal vehicles are unable to drive up. Even if you have some type of public transportation take you up to the entrance of the castle, there is another long cobblestone climb before you are actually IN the castle walls. We sadly saw some mobility challenged people trying in vain to access the final walk…I am fairly certain without success. There is an option for a transfer each way but I didn’t realize what was involved so I didn’t give it consideration. All this is to say, give yourself AT LEAST 1 hour from the town of Sintra to get up and into the castle before your reservation time. They are quite accommodating if you are late but they will not start your tour when you arrive. You will have to join the second half when they are ready so you will miss a lot. When you finish at the castle, you will need to transverse the opposite way you came up. Definitely easier downhill but still takes time. We purchased a combination ticket (for 1415) with the Quinta de Regaleira. Sadly, we didn’t get back into Sintra until after 1700, so we missed it all together. I wish I had known these things before we booked our time so we could have avoided the aggravations. I would still go on this tour. VERY worthwhile!
